When the clog sits deeper
Drill or hand: how to run them
A drill turns the wand faster and longer than a wrist can, which helps when the hair sits past the trap or has packed into a long horizontal run. The PowerSnake carries a universal drive coupler for a standard drill and a hand handle as well, and its 36-inch wands run on a coated, flexible cable that bends through a P-trap. The MAX Power has one 30-inch wand and a drill connector.
Both cards say the same thing about the drill: low speed, clockwise. Turning slowly lets the hooks catch and wind the hair; a fast drill spins the wand against the pipe wall. Keep a bag or the bin next to the drain, because what comes up on a 36-inch wand is long.
